TUCSON URBAN — Lakeside, Kennedy, Silverbell and Sahuarita, were stocked with channel catfish last week. Try chicken liver, worms, hot dogs or prepared catfish bait. These lakes also have aggressive, fast growing, tasty, hybrid sunfish. Fishing for sunfish has been good. Use mealworms and earthworms and a small hook, size 10 or smaller, under a bobber set at 3 to 5 feet. Buy a two-pole stamp and try different baits to double your odds

I am not sure about the fishing, but I hear it's good. But the lake level is LOW. Looks like the half the lake is gone, the shore is empty & above water all around the lake. The city is removing all the gunk and alge from the shore w/ heavy equipment this week.

Fishing for catfish is rated good to excellent at the various Urban Program lakes in both the Tucson and Phoenix areas. Top baits include stink baits, shrimp, hot dogs, and worms fished on the bottom. The catfish are biting best in the evenings and early morning periods. Sunfish are biting well at most lakes using small worms or meal worms. More sunfish will be stocked the week of May 24-29, just in time for the beginning of summer vacation for the kids. Fishing at Green Valley lakes (Payson) is fair for trout, with bass, bluegill and crappie action rated as good.

Lakeside has not been stocked lately due to water quality issues. There will be no further stockings until September. Try chicken liver, worms, hot dogs or prepared catfish bait. Saw a few trout pulled out of the water by others, but spent my day catching hybrids using light tackle and meal worms. Nothing worth keeping, but fun if you have kids.

Sunny skies and warm weather make this an ideal time to get out and fish: Be sure to get a 2005 license. will be stocked with rainbow trout this week. Try Power Bait, salmon eggs, corn or cheese. nice day for fishing caught three 4 pound catfish out of there. Try using stink bait on the bottom or on a bobber. stink bait drives those catfish nuts at that lake.

We arrived at Lake side at 6 in the morning. We put a bobber on, from the swivel to the bobber, there was about a foot between. I caught a couple small gold fish and then I caught a gold fish that was 1 pound and 1 ouce! It was a great catch for me. My brother came and he caught more then me. =] he caught 2 sun fish, and couple small gold fish. then he caught a small catfish that was about 13-14 ouces off of a peice of hotdog, and 2 peices of corn. That is what we used the whole day. The Sunfish and GoldFish were eatting the coin like crazy!

My sister and me went to lakeside on Saturday of 6-17 around 5:15 a.m. The goldfish and bluegill were biting like crazy off of corn and hotdog. Sister caught a 7 oz catfish. I caught a 6 oz and a 13 oz catfish. First 2 catfish were on cheese and liver stink bait and the 13 oz catfish was caught on a full worm (nightcrawler). Brother came down and caught a 7 oz catfish on a full worm too(nightcrawler). Next day on Sunday of 6-18 my sister and me went down again around 5:30 a.m. Once again goldfish and bluegill were biting like crazy but this time just off the hotdog. She caught a 8 oz catfsih and I caught a 14 oz catfish both were on the liver and cheese stink bait. Overall both days were excellent for fishing.

Went fishing at Lakeside for my first time. The lake was full with a lot of sediment and floating debris. The spillway was still flowing quite heavy and the catfish were biting. Man and his son caught 5 within an hour from the fishing pier using chicken liver. Had one bite, however my line was tangled in a log stuck on the "no swimming" sign, which was submerged. Fishing pier was underwater Sunday night (7-30-06)
Can't wait to fish there again, hopefully sediment won't cause another fish die off.

Out for two hours in the morning. Caught nothing but goldfish. Did have one cat hit a shrimp, but lost it. One goldfish was an impressive size, so fun to catch. Too many of them though.

It was a great little fishing trip.

Went out to my favorite spot around 4:30 in the afternoon. It was a bit breezy but it kept the mosquitos off. Caught 6 Big Catfish on raw shrimp and 2 small bass on live nightcrawlers. Catch and released all except for one catthat I gave away right after it started to get dark.

Great time!!!! The hook was coming back with bottom growth but not bad yet.

The catfishing is great with hotdogs and stink bait thats about it. Just last night I caught a two pound catfish on hotdog with a bober. The bass are going crazy right now. I'm useing a small crankbait and after about three casts I get a 12 incher every time. The sunfish are allways easy to catch if you have a young child I would recomend you take them to LakeSide.Hope to see you out there.

Good lake for Catfish I think. They really bite in the early evening to bout 9:00 then they're done for the night. Everytime we got out get an average of 3(18" smallest,26" biggest). Over all good setting at night!
